Whole-house fans are also less expensive than Utah air conditioning. Whole-house fans can be energy efficient and save you money on your electricity bill. A lot of whole-house fans are very environmentally friendly.

Living in Utah can be quite a drag during the hot summers. It is always necessary to find ways to keep our homes cooler. We don’t want to have overheating issues.

A good cooling option is a whole-house fan. Whole-house fans are fans that are put in your home’s ceiling. It takes the hot air that is getting trapped in your home, and takes it up through the attic of the house and then pulls in the cooler air from outside through open windows.

Are whole-house fans better than AC units? Well, whole-house fans can quickly cool down a home. It is efficient as long as the air from outside is cooler. Even if it is a relatively warm day, a whole-house fan can still circulate the air to keep the hot air from just sitting there.

Whole-house fans are also less expensive than Utah air conditioning. Whole-house fans can be energy efficient and save you money on your electricity bill. A lot of whole-house fans are very environmentally friendly.

A main drawback with whole-house fans are that there is no filtering system in place. Whole-house fans draw air in through open windows. Utah air conditioning systems use a heat exchanger to keep the air filtered and clean so no pollen or allergens can bother those inside.

Also, Utah air conditioning units are a lot less noisy than whole-house fans. Whole-house fans are known for being really loud. They can easily upset normal household activities and make it hard to watch movies, socialize and even sleep.

It is also important to have the right vents in the attic so the whole-house fan can work. Whole-house fans, just like Utah air conditioning systems, need to be installed the right way if you want them to work correctly. The attic needs to have vents in place to push hot air out of the house when it is sucked in through the fan.

There is no right or wrong answer with whether an AC unit is better or a whole-house fan. Both have benefits. They can even both be used in your home. That is what we do in our home. It is up to you to decide what option is best for your home.

There are a lot of cool advantages that a room air conditioner can offer. However, before you go out and buy a room conditioner there are a few things to consider. You want to do a little research ahead of time so you know which Utah air conditioning unit is best for you.

Start by deciding what type you like best. The most common units are ones that are mounted in the window. Others options are to mount them in the wall, or use a portable air conditioner that uses the window as well.

Watch for the type of refrigerant the room AC unit uses. Most Utah air conditioning units are using R410A refrigerants. R410A refrigerant is more earth-friendly than previous refrigerants. Be wary of any Utah air conditioning unit that uses R-22 or other HCFC’s refrigerants.

It is always good to size up the room you want the room conditioner for. Most manufacturers will provide the size room their AC unit is good for. The AC unit should have a certain amount of square feet it will cover, and it should also list the amount of BTU or energy that is being used.

We all want to save money, so watch out for energy efficient AC units. Look at the EER (Energy Efficiency Rating) when searching for an AC unit. The higher the number, the less it costs to use it. When comparing AC units a unit with an EER rating of 11 is better than one with a rating of 6.

Another thing to consider is how long you will be using the AC unit for. Would you like to have one that is permanently there? Or perhaps you would like to remove it when the season changes?

Window units are good for switching out during the seasons, whereas wall units aren’t. Portable air conditioners also have the benefit of being able to be moved with in minutes, and are easy to transport. This can be a great option for someone who switches locations a lot.

If you do decide to use a window unit it is also important to make sure your unit will be the right size for your window. Measure the size of your window first before purchasing a unit. If you would like to keep it installed in a more permanent manner, there are off-season covers available to cover it during the wintertime.

What is the main difference between a central air conditioner and a room conditioner? What are advantages that one has over the other? Which one should I get?

These are all questions that we have to consider when choosing a Utah air conditioning unit. Living in Utah means really hot summers. It’s important to choose a good Utah air conditioning unit that will keep our homes cool with out breaking the bank.

When trying to determine whether to get a central AC unit or a room AC you need to consider the area that you are trying to cool down. What size are you looking for? Are you trying to cool off your office or are you hoping to cool down your entire home?

A room AC unit usually goes in a window, though a few can be installed directly in the wall. They are usually pretty easy to install, and can plug in to any electrical outlet. This can be nice if you don’t have a lot of time, and you don’t have to call someone from your Utah air conditioning company to come down and install it.

Room AC’s get their name because that is what they were built to cool. They only have enough power to cool down the room, not the entire home. Because they are only cooling one area of the home they do not use as much electricity as the central air units do.

It is very important to have the right size unit to cool your room down. Buying too small a unit will waste energy. It will have to keep running continuously, which will increase your energy usage. It’s much better to just buy the right size and keep your bills as low as they can be.

A central air conditioner will keep your home cooler. It does more than just one room. Contractors will need to come in and install this unit. They are more expensive to install, because they deal with a more detailed install then simply plugging the AC unit in.

Central AC units also have the privilege of being for the most part maintenance free. They are a lot quieter than room units, and are a very effective way of cooling down the home. If you like convenience, this is the option for you.

We have run several articles about ways to save money with your Utah air conditioning system. One of those ways is to conserve energy. Another is to use an energy efficient AC unit.

Another way for Rocky Mountain Power customers can save with Utah air conditioning is to take advantage of their Cool Keeper program. Cool Keeper is a voluntary program that helps to manage electricity demand during the months of June through August, when electricity usage is the most expensive.

The advantages of using cool keeper is that installation is free. There are no costs involved. And as a thank you for participating Rocky Mountain Power gives you a $20 thank you credit.

How cool keeper works is once you sign up for the program a device is connected with your Utah air conditioning system. You still use your AC units thermostat the way you normally would on most days. You can turn your AC on and off when you want.

On especially hot summer weekday afternoons, however, when the electricity is being used a lot the cool keeper device on the Utah air conditioning system gets a wireless signal from Rocky Mountain power. The keeper device responds to the wireless signal by turning the air conditioner off and on for 15-minute time periods. They coordinate the time your air conditioner goes off with others in your neighborhood to manage the electricity usage.

When cool keeper is being used there is generally only a rise in temperature by one to three degrees. The air conditioner does still run the fan to keep the cool air in the home still running. After the demand of electricity usage lowers the cool keeper device turns off and your AC unit returns to its usual operation.

Cool keeper is only active one percent of the year, Rocky Mountain power claims. It works on only the hottest weekdays, between 2 in the afternoon and 8 in the evening. They never activate it on the weekends when you are home all day, or during the holidays.

Using the cool keeper also helps out the State. It allows a more effective use of energy, which is a better use of the state’s existing electrical infrastructure. If you want to help conserve energy, this is a good option for you. For more information, go to www.rockymountainpower.com.

Have you heard of high pressure jetting when it comes to cleaning out clogs in your drains? I’ve found that Utah plumbing companies have mentioned it to me as a solution before but what exactly is high pressure jetting and when is it necessary to use it?

Plumbers haven’t always had the ease of using an auger, these are the instruments that plumbers will stick into the pipes to clean them out. They used to have to take it apart and even dig it up. Augers do a wonderful job at pipe cleaning, but what do you do when they can’t hand the job?

Some clogs or blockage have a lot of grease, soot, and other things that prevent the auger from working very well. The auger will hit this wall and even with hours of work will never relieve the clog.

These types of clogs are can be found in many restaurant from cooking and draining food items that will quickly cause a strong build up. Jetting would be the perfect as well as the only real solution to this situation. Jetting is also used in residential areas as well.

High pressure jetting used to be quite expensive, but because of recent development they are now available at lower costs and more plumbers have been able to discover the ease and great results of jetting.

Because of the price reduction for plumbers, this seeps down and makes it an easy and affordable solution to any household or commercial clogging that you might be facing.

One recommendation is to not try to use a high pressure jetting system unless you are a trained professional. You could end up causing more damage if you don’t know how to use the machine.

Because of the results, jetting should never have to be done in your home more than once a year. If you think you have a clog that it just not coming out even with an auger, call a local Utah plumbing company and ask if they offer high pressure jetting.

Use your Utah air conditioners thermometer to see how hot your home is.

Everyone wants the option to pay the least amount of money they can towards a certain bill. This is especially true with the current economy. Below are some tips to help you conserve energy this summer.

Start by unplugging your appliances. Appliances can use just as much energy when they are “turned off” as they can when they are left on. This may be surprising, but it is the truth.

TVs have surpassed refrigerators as the top energy wasters. Refrigerators at least have to be plugged in all the time, while TVs do not. Make it a habit to unplug your TV systems when not using them. Another option is to use a power strip and then turn the whole thing off when not in use. Remember to especially unplug all outlets when gone on vacation.

Conserve energy by only using your AC when you have to. We all know that having a Utah air conditioning system is essential in Utah during the hot summers. Utah air conditioning systems have a lot of benefits with keeping your home cool. There is nothing wrong with using an AC unit, but conserve energy by only using you have to. Use your Utah air conditioners thermometer to see how hot your home is.

You will most likely use the pool during the summer. When you use a beach towel try to re-use them. Beach towels take up a lot of energy because they are more heavy duty and take a long time to dry in the dryer. If the towel is used for the pool, try getting a few uses out of it before laundering it and try to air drying it to conserve energy.

Don’t take forever in the shower! When you take half an hour taking a shower you are wasting a lot of energy. Learn to take fast showers and cut your shower time down.

Remember to weather strip your doors and windows. A lot of people think this is only important during the winter. However it is just as important to do during the summer because you don’t want the nice cool air from your Utah air conditioning system to leak through the door and have to work harder because hot air is leaking in from outside.

Turn off your computer. While the sleep mode is fine when you are taking a quick restroom break, when you actually go to “sleep” you need to shut your computer off completely. Take time to really turn off your computer to stop wasting that energy.

Utah air conditioning units can be wonderful things. They keep us cool and alive during extreme heat waves. However, when limited by a budget there are some things that you can do to cool yourself off without always having to crank on your Utah air conditioning unit.

Start by placing a fan near the window once the day starts to cool off. This can bring in cool air during the night, and help your home feel refreshed. Be sure to close the windows early in the morning time so you can keep the air in the room cool for as long as you can.

Remember to use your ceiling fan. Even on high speed, a ceiling fan will use less energy than your AC unit. Ceiling fans help to keep things cool by circulating the air around you and keeping the hot air moving.

Try to keep your lights turned off. Use as few lights as possible, since lights generate heat. When you leave a room, turn off those lights. This not only helps with the heat level, but also with your electricity bill as well.

Only use your AC when you have to. Turning on your Utah air conditioning unit every single time you are hot will waste a lot of energy. Instead, use your thermostat to guide you as to when it is appropriate to use your AC unit.

Draw your shades. The less sun that shines through the windows, the less heat there will be. Draw your shades in the early morning and try to keep things as cool for as long as you possibly can.

Don’t forget the different alternative cooling methods available. Add water to your arms, or even to your sleeves, and sit next to a fan. This can cool your temperature down a lot. When you dry, re-wet your arms and shirt.

Another alternative method is to use your bathtub. Fill it with cool water and get in. After the temperature gets warmer, you can let some water drain and then refill it with more cool water.

During the summertime you won't have as hard of an issue. With your Utah air conditioning system, you can program when your Utah air conditioning unit will be activated. A thermostat helps your Utah air conditioning unit know when it should and shouldn't be used.

A common question that seems to reach me a lot is how cold should I keep my home? When you are trying to conserve energy and gas it is important to know how cold you can keep your home. You want to be sure to factor in safety for your family, but also for the pipes in the plumbing system.

During the summertime you won’t have as hard of an issue. With your Utah air conditioning system, you can program when your Utah air conditioning unit will be activated. A thermostat helps your Utah air conditioning unit know when it should and shouldn’t be used.

If you are really trying hard not to save money, only use your Utah air conditioning unit when you need to. Just remember that too much heat is not safe for anyone. If your other cooling methods are not working to cool you down, it is a good sign that you need to cool your home down and turn on the AC.

During the winter time it can be a little harder to know how low the temperature can safely be. If you let the temperature of your home drop too much you are risking damaging it. Water in pipes will freeze, and when the frozen water expands it can damage your pipes.

Busted pipes can cause a lot of damage to your home. Water damage is one of the most destructive ways to destroy your home. It is much better for you, and your home, if you don’t let it get too cold for that to happen.

One recommendation is to keep your home at around 55 degrees. While pipes won’t technically freeze until 32 degrees, I would hesitate going any lower than 55 degrees. My reasoning? If your power does go out there will be a major problem with the pipes freezing. The higher the temperature in your home, the more time you have before your pipes will freeze.

You also need to factor in the health of those living in the home. You don’t want your home to be too cold for family members and pets. Having your home too cold can also kill off any house plants you have. If you decide to keep your home temperature that low be sure to watch your family for any signs of hypothermia.

If you like your home cold, remember to be courteous of others that drop in. They may not be as forgiving about the cold as other people are. If you have a quick way to heat up the home, such as a HVAC system or a wood fireplace, this can help when people get too cold.

When your home doesn’t cool down fast it could be because your home got too hot. It is easier to keep your home cool when the temperature of the home is low. If your home is hotter than 80 degrees it will take longer to cool down.

Your AC unit could also take longer to cool the home down if it is in the full sun. If the coolant is warmed up it might take a little longer to cool down. This is only in extremely hot situations, however.

If your AC unit isn’t working efficiently it could also be because the water needs to be changed. Window units use water to humidify and cool the air. Be sure that there is enough water in the Utah air conditioning unit.

The filter of a Utah air conditioning unit needs to be changed regularly. Dirty filters make your air conditioner work harder because less air is able to filter in. Be sure to change your filter every month when using it on a regular basis.

The line of the air conditioning unit could also be frozen. When the line is frozen, the air conditioning unit won’t be able to function properly. Normally if you let it sit for a few hours it will thaw out and be fine.

The ducts could also be the issue. If there are any problems with the ducts, such as clogs, then the air conditioning unit won’t be working the right way. Be sure to check the ducts to make sure it is clear.

When you are heating up the entire home with your Utah air conditioning unit, there are some rooms that don’t need to be cooled. Be sure to close the basement vents and other rooms that you do not need cooled. It takes longer to cool a lot of rooms rather than a few.

There are a lot of different things that can be causing your cooling unit to not be working efficiently. Do some investigation work to determine the cause. Be sure to call your professional Utah air conditioning company for any repairs that need to be made.

When you are gone on vacation turn your Utah air conditioning unit off. During the winter, turn your heater's thermostat down to around 55 degrees. This will save with your heating bill with out having to deal with frozen pipes that could burst.

1. During the summer set your thermostat to be as high as you can stand it comfortably. The less difference there is between indoor and outdoor temperatures, the less work your AC unit will have to do and the more energy you will save. When you are gone for an evening during the winter, turn the thermostat down.

2. When you are gone on vacation turn your Utah air conditioning unit off. During the winter, turn your heater’s thermostat down to around 55 degrees. This will save with your heating bill with out having to deal with frozen pipes that could burst.

3. If it is an extremely hot day, avoid going out of your way to turning the air conditioner to a cooler setting. Setting the thermostat to a setting that is lower than normal won’t cool your home any faster. It could actually cause it to have excessive cooling issues and more expense.

4. Don’t put your appliances near the Utah air conditioning thermostat. The thermostat is there to sense the temperature of the home. It can quickly pick up on the heat from your appliances, which can cause the air conditioner to work longer than it needs to.

5. During the winter months turn your thermostat down 5 to 10 degrees when you sleep. You can turn it back up again when you wake up. That will save you 5-10% on your next heating bill.

6. Turn your air conditioner off during the night when the air is cooler. Open screened windows instead and turn on your fan. If you close your windows before the morning sun starts to heat up outside you can keep your home cooler during the morning as well.

7. Use a programmable set-back thermostats to keep track of when you need your air conditioner to work. Utah air conditioning units can be set up with a thermostat that can turn on to cool down the home as soon as you get home from work and be turned off around the time you get in to bed. This can help you set back on your usage and save you money.

This only works for people who have a regular schedule. If it is absolutely necessary for you to work from 9 in the morning until 5 at night, every day, then this would be a good option for you. Otherwise you may be stuck with a thermostat that is working for hours while you are at work or away.
